Reindert L. Falkenburg

Biographie

Professeur d'histoire de l'art et de la culture de la première modernité, Reindert L. Falkenburg est Vice Provost for Intellectual and Research Outreach à la New York University à Abu Dhabi. Il a été titulaire de la chaire d'histoire de l'art de l'Université de Leyde aux Pays-Bas et professeur d'histoire de la religion et de l'art occidental à la Graduate Theological Union à Berkeley. Il a été directeur du Netherlands Institute for Art History (RKD) à La Haye. Il a publié de très nombreux articles et ouvrages sur l'art flamand et hollandais des xve et xvie siècles, et en particulier sur Jérôme Bosch, Joachim Patinir, Pieter Aertsen et Pieter Bruegel. Il est l'auteur de Joachim Patinir. Landscape as Pilgrimage of Life (Johns Benjamins, 1988) ; The Fruit of Devotion. Mysticism and the Imagery of Love in Flemish Paintings of the Virgin and Child, 1450-1550 (John Benjamins, 1994) ; The Land of Unlikeness. Hieronymus Bosch.
